Happy Independence Day!

Hoping you all have a *blast* this Fourth of July.

We are starting the day off right...and hopefully not too unpatriotic.

I made a little "Fly by the Seat of Your Pants" French Toast.

Here's the recipe:

1/2 loaf of day old bread, sliced into 1/2 - 1 inch thick pieces

Place these slices in the bottom of a greased 9X13 pan.

Beat together 4 eggs, 1.5 cups half and half, 1/2 c o.j., and a little vanilla or Grand Mariner, should you fancy it. Add some blue agave syrup to your sweetness liking (up to 1/4 c.--note: i tried honey and it wasn't so great....maybe if the ingredients had been at room temp, it would have worked better.) Pour this mix over your sliced bread in the pan.

Let sit for 30 minutes or so, while the bread soaks up some of the egg.

Pile fresh strawberries (or any berries you like) on top and pop in the oven at 400 degrees F for 20-ish minutes, till the edges of the bread sticking above the liquid.

It's sort a french toast-frittata all in one. :o)
